This game has me worried.

We have played CMU on homecoming three times since 2013 and have lost by three each time.

Just like with the game at Kent State, it's a matter of are we going to properly prepare for this game?

We've seen what CMU has been doing lately. We need more pop in our offense. Our defense needs to keep developing. (Pass defense especially.)

The starting QB for this game better have the last name Poulos or Davis.

Happy to have this one in Athens. Will probably be a grinder considering they don't pass. We always seem to have trouble with them whether they're good or not. Hopefully a powerful HOCO crowd pushes them over the top.

Quite a weird offense. They've only thrown for 400 yards in 5 games. Flores has 200 yards passing, nearly 500 yards rushing. Stop him, stop the whole team. Their starting RB only averaging 7 carries a game.

There are multiple reasons for this but after 5 games, OUr leading passer is Vezza with only 438 yards. But as you say, theirs is Flores with 201 yards. Those are weird numbers at this point.

It is down to 3. The betting line is more accurate over time than just about any prognosticator or system out there. In OUr case so far its accuracy has been really, really good.

at Nebraska +23.5, Lost 21-49, failed by 4.5
JSU -1.5, Won 29-27, covered by 0.5
at USA +7, Lost 36-41, covered by 2.0
Stonehill -32.5, Won 35-7, failed by 4.5
at Kent -3.5, Won 13-10, failed by 0.5

The total combined absolute value of the misses is 12. If I recall, even though it is better than just about anything else, on average a line misses the difference by about 13.5 with a median miss of about 11. Our combined miss over 5 games is right in that range.

Design some plays where a non-qb Levi Davis ala Dri Archer is used in OUr offense to add some needed zest.

Vezza is QB2. Poulus/Davis have combined for 350 yards additional.

Flores is QB1, not some anomaly thrown out there last week. Their entire team has only thrown for 400 yards. And that includes the Miami game where they were clobbered and threw it nearly 30 times.

Through the other 4 games: 75/25 run/pass ratio - they're on Army / Navy level.

45 rushing attempts per game
15 pass attempts (7 completions a game)

I'd bet Davis.

The offense moves pretty good with him in the game and he threw a frozen rope on the curl. Let him get most of the reps and see what you have. I think he has gotten much better since the spring.

Hauser said Poulos was set to start against Kent but they decided to give him another week. I will surprised if anyone other than #8 starts this week.

Feels like we've had a lot of homecoming letdowns, and we always seem to struggle with CMU. My level of optimism isn't that high. We're due for a complete performance, hopefully this is it.

I'll bet Poulos. I'll also bet that Davis's playbook is not 100% complete yet so they probably intentionally aren't playing him every snap even when Poulos is out.

I'm sure the staff is protecting Davis a little bit, just like they are a couple others. This is a nice freshman group.

Speaking of Parking...

Across the river from Peden, there is all kinds of construction going on in what used to be a small grass parking area. Anyone know the goal there?

I believe they are installing a pump station there.

Part 3....I typically buy general game day parking and walk over from near the power plant. We don't mind the walk and usually makes for a quick exit. I noticed they aren't listing those parking passes online this week, I usually buy one ahead of time for $10. Anybody know why? I'm assuming they are trying to make the extra $5 per car because its $15 on gameday.

That's near where the parade begins. Perhaps they will wait to sell/fill until parade concludes.
