The MAC is hitting this in an interesting year with federal legislation preventing superconfernces and expansion to a 24 team playoff. It could give the MAC leverage once both are signed off on to structure the next TV deal properly for the new environment.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Fiami @ Peden with 25,086 fans
2023 10-7 near shutout of Iowa State @ Solich Field
2025 17-10 defeat of WVU @ Peden in front of 26,740

Agree that the league got lucky with the timing.

But one lesson from the last deal that I hope they've learned is that a 14 year deal is far, far too long. The media landscape changes too quickly, as does the college athletics landscape. The MAC left a bunch of money on the table by not being able to renegotiate their media deal since cable.

Interestingly, there are still a majority of boomers on here that think cable is still the way to go.
I think the way to go is definitely a hybrid. If you could someone like the CW to broadcast an afternoon game every Saturday and run everything else on their app, that would be the bees knees. More than likely, it will all be a pay app. I don't think the MAC is a powerful enough draw to really bring out a bidding war though. I suspect we take whatever ESPN offers while they scream from the rough "we're on Disney, the biggest media empire in the US" or some such shit. I'd even love to see what Skydance could do with us, just to see something fresh.

My wife's a boomer, but I'm a war baby, and we are all streaming now via Hulu (several Roku boxes and one AppleTV box).
