Sunny and 64 degrees at this time expected for the Kent State Homecoming Game.

I was surprised to see the Flashes put a real hurtin on BallS so that current spot may be a hard one to cover....

I don't think what Kent State brings to the table is too overwhelming, but we do need to prepare and take this team seriously.

Combine that with our issues playing on the road, and yeah, we'll need to make more key adjustments.

I have a predictive system which doesn't have enough data to work yet. However, given what data it has, it has concluded that last weeks game between Kent State and Ball State was between the two worst teams in the FBS. This line is down to three now. I think that, even though we were at home and probably got outplayed on the while, if we can beat Jacksonville State with a bunch of staters out, that we have a good chance to cover three on the road against Kent State with, probably, more players available.

This is far from a certain victory. We have a history of vomiting all over ourselves at Dix Stadium.

Do we have any timetable on Brune?

I think Vezza has looked pretty good, so I'm not as worried about Poulus rushing back, but Vezza's game opens himself up to a ton of hits so it'd be nice to know QB1 was at least dressing.

At this rate, I think we have 3 QB1's

I get the feeling that we'll run better with Vezza but also turn it over more.

But not always. I recall one game at Dix that was played in a cold, driving rain interrupted by lightning. I know Ohio won and, if my memory is correct, won a division title by stopping Kent short of our goal line in the closing moments. (Anyone remember it more clearly than I?)

This was 2006, and it had every kind of weather, it seemed. Julian Edelman was the Kent QB. This game did not clinch the East, but it was really pivotal for both teams. We clinched two games later at home against Akron. Landon Cohen, Ernie Hodge and Jameson Hartke lived in the backfield.

My fondest memory from Dix Stadium was seeing freshman walk-on and fourth-string running back A.J. Oullette get forced into playing due to injuries and fumblitis from our starters (four fumbles lost). Dez, Dorian Brown and Papi were coughing it up all over the place. Vick saved us with two TDs to Landon Smith. We escaped 17-14 but it shouldn't have been that close. LONG LIVE AJ!!!

Starting at 26:08, if you guys are interested, Mike, the Kent State Agenda Pusher and I have a preview breakdown of this game. I found a guy who's very knowledgeable about Kent State. He knows his stuff.

This game is a concern for me. For one, I think Kent State is better than theyve been for a while. I dont think the gap is what it has been. Secondly, its their homecoming. Third, its early in MAC play and everyone is in the running. Win this one and they probably think they can excite fans and students (compared to typical KSU football excitement anyway). Lastly, Kent can and has, in the past, jumped up and bit us in games that have negatively impacted our seasons.

Having written all of this, I hope Im wrong.

Arriving somewhat early for that game I remember walking in and AJ was standing just outside the stadium walls near the ticket window. He was partially dressed for the game and he was talking with family and friends. It was clear he had a lot of support. Not sure Ive ever seen such interaction that was so close to the beginning of the game and at such an accessible location. I had probably determined who he was before the game but I had no idea he would carry such a load so quickly. Thank goodness he was ready.

I think that he had 20 or 25 friends and family there for years.

I am not saying that we will win this one but I think that if we don't that this will be a long season.

On the board 3-0. Good FG by Hryszko with the wind in his face.

Why are our corners always 10 yards off of the receivers?

I've been saying that for a few years now. We give opposing WRs way too much space.

Seriously, you have to bump and run to knock the timing of the play off.
